The Hun School of Princeton crowd was enthusiastic as families gathered for the highly anticipated Homecoming and Family Weekend football game against the Hill School on October 19th.
Along with the excitement behind the numerous athletic events that took place that weekend, a variety of spirit activities had been organized for students and families, including face painting, t-shirt making, and interactive games, all designed to uphold a community that fosters pride in The Hun School and welcomes all alumni, friends, and families. It was a day dedicated to celebrating the School’s rich traditions, culminating in the thrill of the evening’s matchup.
The palpable school spirit was evident from the moment community members began arriving. Alums, parents, and students donned their red and black Hun gear, with cheers and chants resonating throughout the stands. The atmosphere was festive, with families mingling and enjoying the pre-game activities.
“I love the energy, I love how excited everyone seems. You can really tell that students are happy to be here cheering on their friends. It’s a great time of the year and I’m really excited for the game,” a parent of a current student said.
The Hun School’s cheerleaders, led by Coach Cali Ziegler, energized the crowd with their routines. It was a true celebration of community, bringing together generations of people who share a love for their school and its teams.
As kickoff gradually approached, anticipation hung in the air.
“Running down the stairs onto the field was a really memorable part of my night. I could tell everyone was hyped and it was a very fun game” said varsity football player, Jack Easterly ’25.
Hun took to the field against their rivals, eager to make the evening even more special for their supporters.
Player Jack Pfiefer ’25 said, “Team spirit was great! This is my first year at Hun, and I was very excited to play under the lights.”
The players continued their momentum throughout the game, displaying both skill and collaboration following the long-awaited halftime performances by the Hun cheerleaders and step team, Majesty.
As the second half unfolded, the Hill School scored a touchdown, but the Hun team did not let that discourage them. They maintained their dominance, scoring repeatedly while their defense stifled any attempts from the rival team to mount a comeback.
The final whistle secured the victory for The Hun School, with the scoreboard reading 45-14. The stands erupted in cheers as players celebrated on the field. The team’s performance was a testament to their hard work and preparation, but it was also a moment of unity for the Hun community.
As fans celebrated the victory, they knew this Homecoming game would be remembered for their performance, and also for the spirit and togetherness it encouraged among everyone attending.
“I love Homecoming because it’s a great way to start the year. I’m a senior, so it was pretty bittersweet watching my last home game, but it made me really appreciate the experience. It was great seeing how happy everyone was after the game, and it was just a great night overall” said Emma Alpert ’25.
As families departed, smiles adorned the faces of students and alums alike, reflecting the pride and joy that comes with being part of the Hun School community. The Homecoming game was more than just a football match; it was a celebration of culture, tradition, and the indomitable spirit of the school.
